The Shannon UAP Incident

The Shannon Incident — November 9, 2018

The Shannon Incident is widely regarded as the most significant and well-documented modern Irish UAP case. On the night of November 9, 2018, a British Airways pilot operating Flight BA94 from Montreal to London Heathrow reported a bright object moving at extraordinary speed off the southwest coast of Ireland. She contacted Shannon Air Traffic Control to ask whether any military exercises were taking place in the area and was informed there were none. The object appeared to come alongside the aircraft before rapidly veering away, leaving the crew and passengers unharmed but deeply puzzled.

Other commercial pilots in the vicinity also reported unusual lights and high-speed objects, lending weight to the account and prompting an official investigation by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). Radar data, cockpit reports, and ATC recordings were reviewed to determine whether the phenomenon could be explained by conventional aircraft, meteors, or atmospheric effects. Despite careful analysis, the incident remains unexplained, and it continues to be cited in discussions of credible UAP encounters involving multiple professional witnesses and formal regulatory scrutiny.
